NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 6 – An aspirant for the Nairobi governor’s position, Evans Kidero, says the youth will top his agenda if voters endorse him to be the chief executive of Kenya’s capital city.
Speaking to Capital FM News on Thursday, Kidero maintained that he is reform minded and that he would tackle unemployment for the youth and uplift the living conditions of low income households in Nairobi.
“A lot of our youths whether educated or uneducated do not have jobs. They are not engaged. That is going to be key if I am elected. Nobody is going to invest in Nairobi if it is dirty and insecure,” he pointed out.
“So there is need to fix security and the hygiene factor in our city because we are the gateway into Africa and the rest of the world. When we do this, Nairobi will attract investors and enterprises will develop.”
Kidero also tore into his rival; former town clerk Philip Kisia saying that he had a poor track record.
“In the first place when (former Town Clerk John) Gakuo left the city, the place was clean but since he left, everything changed. The city is back in dirt. There is a lot of raw sewage flowing even in the city centre,” he stated.
He emphasised the need for Nairobi residents to cultivate and exercise virtuous traits as they strive to make it a better place.
“Let us bring back good old common courtesy where we say ‘good morning’, ‘forgive me’, ‘I am sorry’, ‘thank you’ and where we also observe the law. Trying to respect pedestrians and so on,” he said.
Evans Kidero is a Nairobi University graduate with a degree in clinical pharmacy and is also a holder of an MBA degree.
In the business circles, he’s a force to reckon with webbing his wings strongly in real estate and entrenching massively in key financial institutions.

He was the Managing Director of the Mumias Sugar Company and is also credited for revamping the dwindling football standards in the country after being prevailed upon by the government to be the chairman of the now defunct Harambee Stars Management Board.
His admirers and associates have launched a vibrant campaign panel (EK CENTRE) situated in the up market Kileleshwa in Nairobi.
The team comprises influential individuals drawn from the private sector, former MPs and ministers.
