Vote decisively to avoid runoff, says Mudavadi

KISII, Kenya, Jul 21 – Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi has urged Kenyans to be agents of peace during and after the forthcoming general elections.

Addressing thousands of supporters at several whistles stops in Kisii County, Mudavadi said Kenyans have every right to choose the leader they want and the responsibility to live in harmony regardless the outcome after the elections.

“Election is about allowing people to make their choice of leaders without intimidation. Kenyans have that right to choose their leader but they themselves must be agents of peace to avoid violence similar to that of 2007. Never shall we allow bloodshed. We must guard against what happened in 2007″, he told a crowd at Etago centre.

He was accompanied by a host local leaders including a sister to ODM executive officer Janet Ong’era, Betty Abuta, who has defected to UDF and legislators George Nyamweya, Justus Kizito, Jeremiah Kioni, Nderitu Muriithi and Yusuf Chanzu.

As has now been an established tradition, the DPM continued to use a vehicle throughout his campaign to see and feel the pain Kenyans are experiencing due to bad roads in parts of the country with assurances that he will increase investment in the sector to improve the situation.

The UDF entourage toured Kisii County South Mugirango, Bomachoge, and Bobasi constituencies with stopovers at Tabaka, Nyamarambe, Etaga, Kenyenya, Sengera, Ogembo, Sameta, Nyamache, Igare and Itumbe centres where excited thousands thronged to listen and hear from Mudavadi.

Mudavadi said Kenyans must not expect a peace negotiator every election to reconcile them but make a decisive decision to elect a servant leader who stands for stability and harmony to peacefully move the country forward.

“Be decisive and elect me your president in the first round to avoid a second round that could ignite ethnic acrimony”, he said.

Mudavadi said Kenyans must use the remaining time to the elections date to vet all leaders who have offered themselves to lead them but should not be influenced at the last minute by handouts to gamble with the leadership.

“We have seven months to the general elections. Let us use that time to decide who is best to lead this country. We should not be influenced last minute by handouts and gamble with our lives. This is about family lives; our children, wives, husbands and the unborn Kenyans. We cannot gamble with it”, he pleaded.

“I am seeking mandate from Kenyans not to rule them but to be their servant. I am not here to abuse. Mine is to sell my policies on how to assist Kenyans for better, interact with the people to understand their problems so that I can address them when elected president”, he told an attentive crowd at Ogembo market centre.

Give me a brake! a leader of such magnitude like Musalia needs a presidential campaign merry go round for him to come to the reality and understand Kenyans sufferings????? What then informed his candidature?

Hon. Mudavadi is already telling us that he was indeed a very good student of now punctured PM Raila Odinga. First, his pretentious depiction of himself as Kikuyu’s friend, points to a man in desperation of our votes. He has also shown that he is laden with alot of opportunism indeed. His pronouncements are geared at discouraging us from supporting our own son, brother Uhuru Kenyatta. He is clearly telling us that Uhuru should not run at all. Compare that with VP Kalonzo’s position? Chances are that Mudavadi is still a very Odm baby!

Mudavadi has even gone futher. He accuses us of “always ever voting only for our very own!” This is Odm’s twisted line of thinking that essentially brought untold suffering and death to our folks. It blatantly insults our right of choice. And we all know that 2007/8 PEV was enormously inspired by people with this contemptuous attitude towards the rights of citizens. If Mudavadi was as friendly as he wants us to believe, surely he cant so recklessly assault our birthrights. And thats why I have maintained that Mudavadi is a mere Odm incarnate! He cant be taken seriously, let alone being trusted.

Mudavadi is also being very mischievious by asking the Kikuyu, “Odm style!” to repay him. Ostensibly for having supported Uhuru’s presidential bid in 2002. But we all know that that support was not voluntary at all! He was coerced to do so by former president Moi. This sort of campaigns that distorts facts, again Odm style, while not owning up to one’s sins, point to a very dishonest character indeed. Needless to say, Mudavadi has refused to acknowledge or even apologize for sins committed against the Kikuyu in his own backyard. The issue of so called “black aparthied” is very much engrained in some of these folks. The decision by western region’s political elite to weed out what they termed as “ever creeping vile weeds” from their region cant be wished away. By the way, what happened to Kikuyu properties siezed in the region during PEV? Mister Mudavadi we need explanation, otherwise, we will “peel back the mask!”

Kikuyus need to clearly understand that lords of deceit are strenuously trying to mislead us. They want us to vote for Mudavadi while ignoring our very true friend, VP Kalonzo Musyoka. The brother has stood with us at all hours of need. Be it soon after 2007 presidential election, ICC matters, etc, Kalonzo has been genuinely there for us. We need to remember that while Kalonzo whole heartedly stood with us, Mudavadi was on the other hand, in the caravan that was fiercely intent on finishing us off. Kikuyus should not opt for the devil we dont know. What happened in both Zambia and Malawi once wolves wearing fake friendly clothes were unleashed on the sheep, must serve as a lesson to us all.

Mudavadi should first demonstrate leadership from the grassroots in his backyard in order to be considered Uhuru’s political equal, leave alone his junior with MM a ‘compromise’ candidate. That does not happen anywhere in the world.
As of now, they are hardly of the same political status apart from sharing the title of DPM, otherwise Uhuru is a man who is unassailable in his backyard with at least 97% of GEMA behind him, to the extent that he is even attracting solid interest from other regions like Kaljiado, Lamu and NEP. MM had better go back to the drawing board in Western and whip Luhyas into line behind him before coming back to the table. If he cannot demonstrate that, what is he doing going around the country to areas who have already made up their minds who to vote for?

@scanfish: Leadership is not about tribal numbers pal. Its about turning Kenya in to well developing country. Its about ideas and ability to actualize them. Its also not about empty songs of reform thats backed by nothing! Having said that, you must realize that once people in your backyard realizes that your prospects of winning are great, they dont even have to be told to support you, they WILL do it. Other forces will then take cue. Thats why master of deceit had to reach out to Madam Hon. Ngilu once groundswell of support for brother VP Kalonzo started rapidly forming in Ukambani. Lords of deceit are very scared of the brother VP. They know one on one, they have no chance in hell to beat him. Their previous propaganda against him has all evaporated. Be it purported indecision, shuttle diplomacy, utter drunken confused calling of him watermelom, etc, have all been stunningly rendered hopeless.

Our village brother Uhuru has to be judged on what he can do or has done. If you opt for tribal card only, his chances are going to be nil. First, you are telling other people unity amongst ourselves, our big number, entitles us the presidency. No other Kenyan will accept that sort of situation. Infact, the so called historical injustices is actually another word for tribal overlording on others! Thats why Uhuru’s numbers were being inflated by merchant of deceits’ fake opinion polls in order to beat him hands down. That was to be done using these “OVERLORDS” to attract other communities on their side. And remember that was effectively used against us in 2005 referendum and 2007 presidential election. PM Raila actually owes his blood-soaked position courtsey to that tribal card!

Elections are several months away pal. Thus, to talk of people having already decided is to mislead, if not to fall for malicious propaganda. We are every minute being arrested by false propaganda my friend! Thats why our own Uhuru would unwittingly acknowledge that Raila is a reformer by talking of “rear view mirrors!” Reformers are not made of yelling stuff! They never go on rooftops to declare themselves righteous. They never self- praise. They are very humble indeed and detest praises at all times. And more importantly, they were practically in the thick of things when events were taking place. They dont just come from detention or else where to usurp feats. The same stuff of “already decided” was actually the main pillar of fake opinion polls!
