NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 19 – Former Nairobi Town Clerk Philip Mwala Aluda Kisia has launched his Nairobi governor’s campaign.

The aspirant has said that he is the man to beat due to his vast experience in private and public sector management.

He urged his opponents that for one to be a good leader they must have a proven track record which he based his governor’s bid with over 20 years of experience.

“We need able leadership and I reiterate that you cannot come from nowhere and expect to experiment on Nairobi which is such a great county. I have been tested and I have an experience of over 20 years so there is no more experiment with me,” Kisia said.

He said that he is ready and able to take the task.

“I’m fully aware of the task that is ahead of me and I am ready, confident and harmonised to the task,” he asserted.

He asserted that he is a student of strategy and his opponents should be ready for a battle royale.

He challenged his opponents to come out and say what they stand for.

“Come on, baby, come! and show us what you got. We at the Peoples Centre want to conduct the campaign in all fronts without intimidation,” he said.

He said that automation of the city will ensure that the capital achieves its full potential.

“If we automate our city and institutions that we are running, the resources will bounce back and help deliver services accordingly,” he asserted.

He also launched his website www.philpkisia.com where you can interact with him as well as a Twitter handle @philipkisia and Facebook page Philip Kisia.

There is also a short code that you can get news on 2070 by sending MTAA to the four digit code.

“After this launch we will be popularising the code 2070 to share with you news and our plans. This service will be a personal way of your becoming part of our family here the Nairobi family, by following us on twitter, becoming members of Facebook page and subscribing to our code 2070,” he added.

He acknowledged the Internet and social media as a platform for raising funds for campaign that he is taking.

“In 2008 president of US Barack Obama who has roots in Kenya, raised the highest amount of campaign funds in the US history through the social media. The Internet has changed our lives and made the world a global village,” he pointed out.

He urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to roll out civic education that will enable the voters to be aware of the electoral process.

“IEBC needs to take civic education more seriously as there is a big expectation of the mandate of a governor and the other electoral seats provide under the new constitution,” he said.

Research that was commissioned by the Peoples Centre early this year showed that 22 percent of the people of Nairobi know the mandate of a governor while 78 percent needed more information on the mandate of governor and senator.
