Brian Karanga Njeru was a 4th Year student at University of Nairobi

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 17 – Finance Minister Njeru Githae’s son allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday night at their Runda home in Nairobi.

Police say the 26-year-old minister’s son was found dangling from a rope after hanging himself.

“The body has since been taken to the mortuary,” said Nairobi deputy provincial police Chief Moses Nyakwama.

The family says Brian Karanga was found dead but family spokesman Peter Githae maintained that they would await a postmortem to establish the cause of death.

“Brian was found dead in his room yesterday (Wednesday); we do not as yet know the cause of death but a postmortem will be done to establish the cause of death,” said the spokesman.

“This is very shocking news to the family and with all due respect let us pause all the questions until further details are available,” insisted the minister’s brother asking for respect as the family mourns.

Karanga was the last born of the Finance Minister and he was on his fourth year studying Computer Science at the University of Nairobi.

Family friends and relatives of the minister continues to flock the home to condole the family.

Pole Sana brother minister. The youngster looked so bright and promising. However, we need to watch carefully university lives of our children. Alot of hidden things seem to take place in our institutions of higher learning. Majority of young fellows joining them end up very changed and for the worse. Perhaps, devil worshipping has become very prevalent in these places! May God rest the young Githae’s soul in eternal peace!
