NAIROBI, Kenya April 18 – Thirty people have been treated and discharged following an accident on Tuesday night after a bus plunged into Athi River killing three passengers.

The Kenya Red Cross Society Spokeswoman Nelly Muluka has told Capital FM News that 20 others are still admitted to the Kitengela and Shalom Community hospitals.

“Heavy rainfall in the area caused poor visibility resulting in the driver veering off the road just past the Kitengela underpass,” she said.

”Two people died on the spot, we are trying to rescue others,” a police officer at the scene told Capital FM News.

He said the bus was carrying workers of a flower farm back to their homes.

”We have not established the exact number of people who were on board,” the officer said. The incident disrupted trafic for several hours on Mombasa road.
