Midiwo arrested over Raila assassination claims

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 7- Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has been arrested after claims made on Saturday that a Cabinet Minister was plotting to assassinate Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chief Whip was booked at Bondo Police Station where he was grilled over his allegations made during the funeral of Dr. Leliah Gondi in the same town.

Midiwo further alleged the said plot was being hatched to pave way for his opponents to sail through in the coming elections.

Cabinet Ministers James Orengo, Dalmas Otieno and ODM Secretary General, Prof. Anyang’ Nyongo asked the Government to investigate the claims at the same function adding that the matter could not be taken lightly.

Raila on his part asked his supporters not to panic over the allegations saying his time to die will come and pass.

Quite shocking and i reckon its irresponsible to make such claims if its untrue. If indeed the opponents of Raila wanted him dead, i reckon it would have happened long time ago. Time has come for the politicians to be careful what they say because if not tangible evidence is provided Midiwo should be locked up for disturbing peace in the country. These allegations will be made with an aim of getting sympathy but kenyans are aware the PM is being accorded top security in the country after the president. Iteere did to act on these allegations soonest possible but more importantly Midiwo should cooperate with the investigators  to ascertain Midiwo’s claims.

There is no smoke without fire, let as  not rubbish midiwo’s claims as the man can not bring out such serious claims  without him been sure of what he is talking about. My advise to Raila is this, sir God is our protector, No amount of security can protect you if God is not with you, psalm 91, but some times, dispite him (God) been there to protect us, he also warns as of the impending danger so that so we can take cover, Matthew 2 vs 13.  These guy will stop at nothing to make sure you don’t enter state house, as they did with Tom Mboya. You might be ignoring Midiwo’s claims at your own peril, God might be warning you in advance, so be wise.

This is all hogwash and at some point, if there was any such threat, any sane individual would have first reported to the police and recorded a statement before going public.Let’s just say someone is looking for cheap publicity through his proxies. If he is not involved, then the likes of Midiwo will do more harm than good,if they haven’t already.

Professor!  Dont sweat small stuff !  This is idiotic nonsense of the highest order.  Prof Ongeri has been in Foreign Affair’s Office in Less than 2 weeks, yest he is said to know those to kill Raila ?  If my reading is correct, Isnt Mr Watengula, an ally of Raila, the one who just left the ministray 2 weeks ago ?  If there is a plot to kill his Boss, didn’t he know ?  and If he did, why is he passing the buck to Ongeri ?  Did Ongeri hatch the plot within the last 7 days he has been in office ?  Please ! If I may use an american slang!  Balease ! Balease !  Give us a break.  Instead Ask WATENGULA what he know… Stop dragging Ongeri into such nonsense.

It will be indeed sad for a very trusted and senior officer to make such claims if they they will be proved baseless. Time has come when politician should be careful on the kind of utterances they make before the public. The kind of allegation should not be treated so lightly. Let the truth be told by those investigating the matter. But, Kenyans investigators are known to be compromised by the offenders
