WELLINGTON, Apr 16 – Chinese top political advisor Jia Qinglin arrived in Wellington, capital of New Zealand, on Monday afternoon.

Wellington is the second stop of a four-day official good-will visit of Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, in New Zealand.

During his stay, Jia will hold talks with New Zealand acting Prime Minister Bill English and witnessed the signing of a series of cooperation deals between the two countries. He will meet Speaker of the House of Representatives Lockwood Smith, Governor- General Jerry Mateparae, Leader of the Labour Party David Shearer.

Jia will also deliver a keynote speech at the Victoria University of Wellington on the 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic ties between China and New Zealand.

Prior to Wellington, Jia visited New Zealand’s third largest city Christchurch, where was hit by a great earthquake in last February with 185 dead. Jia visited the quake-hit areas, and expressed, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, condolences to the victims and their families.

Invited by the New Zealand government, Jia’s visit in New Zealand will last to April 18. He will also visit Brunei and Thailand afterwards.
