Hui meets with Namibian Deputy Prime Minister Marco Hausiku in Windhoek/XINHUA

WINDHOEK, Apr 5 – China is to step up its efforts to implement a comprehensive and substantial cooperation program in various aspects in a bid to strengthen its ties with Namibia, visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu has said.

Hui said this when he paid a courtesy call on Namibia President Hifikepunye Pohamba at State House in Windhoek on Monday.

China and Namibia have enjoyed the momentum of sound growth in bilateral relations over the past years, Hui said, adding that the two countries have supported each other in international affairs and have made great achievements in cooperation in economic, educational, health and technological fields.

Hui said Namibia is one of China’s important partners in Africa and there is a great potential for the two countries to cooperate in agriculture, mining and tourism, among others.

Pohamba said China has given all the necessary assistance to Namibia before and after Namibia’s independence. Namibia has valued the profound friendship founded by leaders of the two countries.

The president said the Namibia will work hand-in-hand with China to promote the traditional friendship between the two countries and explore new ways to enhance the bilateral cooperation.

Hui also held talks with Namibian Deputy Prime Minister Marco Hausiku on Monday. They attended the signing ceremony of five documents on bilateral cooperation on economic, technological and fishing.
