“The suspect Mihail Boldea will be brought to Romania today (Tuesday) and will be presented to the High Court of Justice which will confirm his arrest warrant”, prosecutors charged with fighting organised crime said in a statement.
Boldea, a Member of Parliament since 2008, is accused of belonging to a crime ring involved in money laundering, swindling and human trafficking.
He left Romania a day after raids were carried out against people suspected of belonging to the criminal network in the town of Galati, close to the Black Sea.
Boldea went to Bulgaria, where he boarded a plane on March 18 from Istanbul airport to Kenya.
Prosecutors had asked for his arrest but had to wait for his immunity to be lifted by Parliament. The lawmakers gave their green light Tuesday last week.
Romania has pledged to fight high-level corruption and dozens of investigations have been launched against politicians in the last years.
