NAIROBI, Kenya Nov 8 – A Kenya Airways pilot appeared in court on Monday charged with dangerous driving and causing injuries to an aide of Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi.

Captain Aquinas Birica Orenge was charged for causing the accident in which Mudavadi’s PA Joshua Shitikho was wounded.

Shitikho who testified before Kibera Magistrate Fridah Nyakundi said he was being driven home when the pilot’s vehicle veered off the road and rammed onto his car.

“I remember shouting at my driver to ask him if he was seeing the vehicle and the next thing I heard was the impact of the accident,” Shitikho said in his testimony.

He said he suffered head injuries and bruises on his chest, arms and legs.

The accident occurred on February 16 at about 11pm in Kileleshwa.

“I was saved by a motorist who rushed me to the Nairobi Hospital where I received emergency treatment and later admitted for five days,” he said.

Shitikho told the court that even after being discharged from hospital, doctors had advised him to remain on constant medication due a rise in sugar levels.

He told the court he was seeing the KQ pilot for the first time in court since the accident.

He however, added that police had informed him that they had arrested a motorist who was released on bond, pending a court appearance.
