President Kibaki at a former IGAD Summit/ FILE

NAIROBI, Nov 25 – President Mwai Kibaki on Friday morning travelled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to attend the 19th Extra-Ordinary IGAD Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The Summit will address the political and security situation in Somalia.

It will also discuss the outstanding issues of the Sudan Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the renewed tension between the North and South
Sudan.

At the meeting, President Kibaki will update regional leaders on the operation Kenya has undertaken inside Somalia to deal with militants who have sought to destabilise both Kenya and the region.

The plane carrying the President and his entourage departed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after 8am.

The Head of State was seen off at the airport by Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka and Internal Security Permanent Secretary Francis Kimemia among other senior Government officials.
