, NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 21 – Belgut MP Charles Keter has now turned the tables on the International Criminal Court (ICC), and has instructed his lawyers to file defamation charges against lawyer Sureta Chana:

Chana who is the legal representative for the post election violence victims, told the ICC during the conclusion of the confirmation of charges hearings in the case against Eldoret North MP William Ruto, Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang that Keter had claimed to know the identity of a prosecution witness.

Lawyer Chana accused Keter of allegedly calling a vernacular radio station from The Hague and telling people that he knew who had betrayed the suspects at the hearings using inciting remarks.

“Madam Chana isn’t immune from prosecution. I am filling defamation
charges against her despite recording a statement so that that she can clarify and maybe name the person who accused me and so these things are rightly in the public domain,” he said.

Keter spoke after spending most of Wednesday morning at the CID headquarters recorded a statement
with the police for investigations to be conducted into the allegations.

Chana said Keter suggested that Prime Minister Raila Odinga housed some of the prosecution witnesses to fix Ruto, Kosgey and Sang.

“He went on to assert the Kenyan Prime Minister was involved in providing accommodation and a safe haven for the so-called traitors,” she said.
