KITUTU MASABA, Kenya Sep 25- Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth has hit out at leaders already forming alliances ahead of the next general election saying that the alliances do not have objective rallying points.
Kenneth who spoke on Saturday in Kitutu Masaba constituency during a campaign rally for Shadrack Mose, a candidate of the Kenya National Congress said that alliances must be based on real issues and not just individual prejudices.
“Let us not have alliances that are just formed because we dislike or hate an individual; we want alliances that will propel the country forward,” he said in an apparent jab at G7 alliance.
Currently the G-7 alliance that comprises of Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Eldoret North MP William Ruto and Saboti’s Eugene Wamalwa among others, has shown intention of fielding a candidate in the general election.
Both Uhuru Kenyatta and Willian Ruto face the International Criminal Court on allegations of having committed crimes against humanity during the violence that rocked Kenya after the disputed December 2007 election.
Kenneth who has also already declared his intention to vie for the presidency next year affirmed that the country needed leaders who champion development and solutions for societal problems like creation of employment for the youth.
“We want politics that will benefit the people; which will unite the people, politics that will drive the country forward, create employment for the youth; we want real politics dealing with real issues,”the Assistant Minister for Planning reiterated.
The Kitutu Masaba by-election will be held on November 28
Elsewhere, Deputy Prime Minister and Minster for Local Government Musalia Mudavadi told off politicians who are not in the Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} to stop meddling in its affairs.
Musalia who spoke at the burial of former Ugenya MP Bishop Stephen Ondiek in Ugenya Constituency said the party had mechanisms put in place to pick its presidential candidates once that time comes.
“Is there a day when your neighbour will decide what you will cook in your house?” he posed alluding to the interference from ODM’s outsiders.
The DPM who was accompanied by Ministers James Orengo and Paul Otuoma, Assistant Ministers Sospeter Ojaamong, Oburu Odinga and Alfred Khangati; and MPs Ababu Namwaba, Justus Kizito and Nicholas Gumbo said the party’s leadership led by Prime Minister Raila Odinga will remain solid to ensure the party stays vibrant and strong for the challenge ahead the general election in 2012.
