NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 10 – Anti-Terrorism Police unit Chief Nicholas Kamwende is among 13 senior police officers moved in a mini reshuffle announced on Wednesday.
His deputy Boniface Mwaniki was promoted and named to replace Mr Kamwende who proceeds for studies at the National Defence College in Karen.
Others affected in the changes include Mr Francis Njiru who has been sent to Rift Valley to replace the late Reche Nyaga who died three months ago. Mr Njiru has been investigating cases at the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters in Nairobi.
A statement sent from Police headquarters said Mr Njiru’s position at the CID headquarters has been taken over by his deputy Zachary Tum.
Scaver Mbogo who has been serving at the Complaints Unit was moved to Eastern Province to be the head of criminal investigations there.
The department was headed by Mr Samuel Nyabengi who has been transferred to Western province in the same capacity.
Western Provincial CID Chief Lilian Kiamba moves to CID headquarters to head the complaints unit.
Mary Kaol who has just completed her secondment mission at the Interpol Headquarters in Leon, France has been named the head of Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Nairobi.
Paul Ndambuki will take over Kenya’s position at Leon , France.
The bureau was previously headed by Vitalis Okumu who has been sent to the Anti-Narcotics Unit to replace Moses Ndindi who has been sent Central Province as PCIO.
The changes take effect immediately.
Police Spokesman Erick Kiraithe told Capital News the changes are regular and meant to improve security operations in the country.
