More judicial jobs up for grabs

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 6 – The Judicial Service Commission has advertised the positions of the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary and the Deputy Chief Registrar.

Applicants for the two positions must advocates of the High Court of Kenya and have since attained qualification to be a High Court judge.

The applicants should also have attained at least 10 years as a professionally qualified magistrate or a similar number of years as a distinguished academic and legal practitioner in any relevant legal field.

Furthermore, one must demonstrate competence in performing administrative duties for not less than five years.

Interested applicants must be of high moral character, integrity and partiality. The applicants in both positions must have more than five years of competence in the performance of administrative duties.

According to the advertisement, the positions require the applicants to demonstrate a high degree of professional competence, communication skills, fairness and good temperament. Moreover, the applicants must be of good judgment in both legal and life experiences and commitment to public and community service.

Among the functions of the deputy registrar will be deputizing the chief registrar of the judiciary and being responsible to the Chief registrar in the exercise of the duties assigned.

Among the listed functions of the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary advertised in one of the local dailies on Friday include; being the overall administration and management of the Judiciary and the performance of the judicial functions vested in the office of the Chief Registrar by law.

Interested applicants should send an application letter and updated curriculum vitae, completed application for employment forms in tricate- JSC2A (for public officers) and JSC 2 (for other applicants).

They are also required to submit three recent coloured passport size photographs and a declaration of Income, Assets and Liabilities Form JSC 2b. The forms can be downloaded at the Judiciary\’s website.

Applicants must forward 11 copies of samples of any writings including but not limited to judgments, advocacy submissions in courts, scholarly writing or any legal publication authored and certified copies of testimonials, professional certificates and academic transcripts.

The applications should be sent to the Secretary, Judicial Service Commission, P.O. Box 30041-00100 Nairobi or sent via email to reghck@judiciary.go.ke within 21 days from Friday.

The advertisements come amid interviewing of the already short listed candidates for the position of the Chief Justice.
