NAIROBI, Nov 16 – Britain\’s Prince William, the second in line to the throne, was seen at a top Kenyan wildlife conservancy in October, the month he became engaged to his girlfriend Kate Middleton, a witness said.
The witness, who asked not to be identified, recounted seeing the prince at the 24,000-hectare (60,000-acre) Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in central Kenya some time around October 19.
"I saw William at Lewa," the source told AFP.
William, 28, the eldest son of heir to the throne Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, and Middleton, also 28, became engaged in October while on holiday in Kenya, said Clarence House, the official residence of Charles and his sons, on Tuesday.
Lewa, which lies some 225 kilometres (140 miles) north of the capital Nairobi, has made headlines for its work in conserving endangered black rhinos both at Lewa and at the nearby 36,000 hectare Ol Pejeta reserve, which is home to Kenya\’s latest single population of black rhinos.
William reportedly spent three months living with the family of Ian Craig, the founder of the Lewa conservancy, as part of his gap year after leaving secondary school.
