Wanjiru, Waititu sworn in as ministers

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 27 – President Mwai Kibaki on Wednesday witnessed the swearing-in of two recently appointed Assistant Ministers.

During the brief ceremony at Harambee House, Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru was sworn-in as the assistant minister for Housing while Embakasi legislator Ferdinand Waititu was sworn-in as the assistant minister for Water and Irrigation.

President Kibaki asked the two ministers to work hard and dedicate themselves to serving Kenyans with honour and distinction.

The Head of State noted that Kenyan citizens had a lot of expectations from their leaders especially under the new constitutional dispensation.

He further told the assistant ministers to remain faithful to the expectations of their new responsibilities and at all times to uphold integrity while serving their motherland.

The ceremony was conducted by the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet Amb Francis Muthaura.

In attendance were Permanent Secretary Internal Security Francis Kimemia and other senior government officials.
