NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 15 – Self confessed serial killer Philip Onyancha was jailed for a total of 12 years on Friday after he was found guilty of attempted rape and assaulting a woman in Nairobi.
He will serve 10 years for the attempted rape and another two years for the assault but both will run concurrently.
Court documents stated that the offences occurred on February 19, 2009.
In delivering the ruling against Mr Onyancha, Kibera magistrate Dickson Onyango said that the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt that the accused had committed the offences.
The self-confessed killer is still facing separate charges of murder which are pending at the High Court in Nairobi.
Mr Onyancha hit headlines in June 2009 when he admitted having murdered 19 people mainly women and children whose blood he later sucked.
Police have already filed a number of murder cases against him and are still investigating other cases in which he was implicated.
Mr Onyancha shocked Kenyans when he confessed to the crimes and announced that he was targeting 81 more people to reach a target of 100 victims.
The 32-year-old former G4S security guard was taken to a psychiatrist before he was arraigned in court to face the charges.
