Kenyan man alive but wife, kids dead in US saga

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 14 – A Kenyan living in America allegedly murdered his wife and two children on Thursday.

Justus Ogendi Kebabe allegedly killed his wife at their apartment in Minnesota and poisoned his daughter and son, according to the deceased man\’s cousin Joseph Lister Nyaringo who lives in New Jersey.

The woman\’s body and those of the two children were found at their apartment while the man left the house and was found on a nearby highway.  Another child aged four was found alive.

His cousin had initially told Capital News from New Jersey that the man his wife and two children were dead, but we have since established that Mr Kebabe is alive and in custody.

Mr Nyaringo said Mr Kebabe hails from Gesere Village in Nyaribari Chache. His wife has been identified as Leah, the daughter Bosibori and son Isaboke.

Leah hails from Matunu Village, also in Nyaribari Chache of Kisii County.

Mr Nyaringo told Capital News from the US that his cousin had moments before the incident telephoned him and talked of committing suicide.

"On noticing the threat and danger to my cousin\’s life when we spoke over the phone, I called the Minneapolis police department and reported the suicide threat," Mr Nyaringo said in an e-mail to Capital News.

At around 9:30 pm US time on Wednesday, he said, police found the wife and children dead.

The couple was married in Kenya before they moved to the US.

According to Mr Nyaringo, his cousin worked as a nurse, while his wife was in college pursuing a nursing course.

"The man has been here [US] for 12 years and the wife about 10 years but they had a lot of domestic feuds," Mr Nyaringo told Capital News.
