Kenya presidential escort boss moved

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 8 – Presidential escort commandant Benson Kibui was on Wednesday transferred to Western Province in a major reshuffle affecting more than 100 senior police officers.

Mr Kibui has been appointed the new Western Provincial Police Officer (PPO) replacing King’ori Mwangi who has been moved to Police headquarters as deputy director, reforms.

Mr Kibui’s former deputy at State House, Kitili Mwenda takes over as the Presidential escort commandant, , according to changes announced by Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere.

Reports indicate that Mr Kibui was moved from State House following a disagreement with a member of the first family two weeks ago.

Nairobi Provincial CID chief John Futu Mwachai becomes the deputy director of the Criminal Investigations Department.

Mr Mwachai has been replaced by Peter Muinde who has been transferred from the Kenya Police College in Kiganjo.

Other senior officers affected include James Adoli who has been moved from the complaints department at the CID headquarters to North Eastern Province as PPO.

A statement from police headquarters said comprehensive changes will be made once the county governments are put in place in line with the new Constitution.

“All the officers have been directed to report to their new stations on September 17th,” the statement signed by Police Spokesman Erick Kiraithe said.

Other notable changes in the reshuffle include the transfer of Flying Squad boss Julius Ole Sunkuli to the Investigations Branch at the CID headquarters.

He will be replaced by Munga Nyale who is the Head of the Highway Patrol Unit at the Traffic Headquarters.

Western Provincial CID chief Sebastian Ndaru has been transferred to head the Complaints department at the CID headquarters where he will replace Mr Adoli.

He will be deputised by Pius Barasa who is currently the deputy director of the Firearms Bureu headquarters in Nairobi.

Ms Lilian Kiamba has also been moved from Eastern Province as PCIO to Western Province in the same capacity.

Mr Mohammed Amin who heads the Banking Fraud Investigations Department has also been moved to the Investigations Branch at the CID headquarters and he will be replaced by his deputy Gabriel Syuki Mbuvi.

The changes affect a total of 143 senior police officers.
