Dr Shaban now becomes Minister for Gender, Children and Social Development while Mrs Murugi takes up the Special Programmes docket.

Amason Jeffah Kingi has been moved from the East African Community ministry to that of Fisheries Development.

The EAC docket has been given to Professor Hellen Sambili whose previous Youth and Sports docket will be headed by Paul Otuoma.

Mr Otuoma was previously the Minister for Fisheries.

The President has also filled the vacant Trade Assistant Minister’s position that was formerly occupied by ex-South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara.

The new Bomachoge legislator Simon Ogari inherits the trade portfolio.

Also appointed is Professor Margaret Kamar (Eldoret East) as Assistant Minister for Environment and Mineral resources.  Professor Kamar was a strong supporter of the Yes camp during the August 4 referendum, going against a ‘No’ wave in the Rift Valley.
