Kenya public broadcaster suspends MD

, NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 23 – The managing director of the State-run Kenya Broadcasting Corporation David Waweru has been suspended.

A KBC board meeting on Wednesday morning also suspended the corporation\’s secretary Hezekiel Oira over allegations of impropriety.

Board chairman Charles Muoki said the two have been suspended to allow for independent investigations.

KBC\’s Editor-In-Chief Waithaka Waihenya was named as the acting Managing Director, while Finance and Administration Manager Musa Muthambi will oversee the duties of the corporation secretary.

Waweru joined KBC in 2006. His contract was extended in August last year for another three year term.
