Rapist lynched in Kenyan village

KINANGOP, Kenya, May 3 – A 30-year-old man was lynched on Monday by members of the public at Magumu trading centre in Kinagop district after he allegedly defiled and raped a girl and his mother.

According to Nyandarua Divisional police boss Jaspher Ombati, the suspect allegedly broke into the house of the victims as they slept and defiled the 13-year-old minor before turning to her mother of 38.

Mr Ombati said that the suspect was armed with a knife when he committed the offence at around 4am.

Speaking to the press in his office, the OCPD noted that the deceased used the razor-sharp knife to threaten the helpless victims not to raised alarm. However, the teenager managed to escape through the door un-noticed after the man identified as a habitual rapist turned to her mother.

The brave child raised a distress call that attracted members of the public who caught the attacker in the act.

Mr Ombati said the irate mob rained blows and kicks while also using other crude weapons on the criminal to his death.

The body of the deceased was moved to Naivasha district mortuary while the victims were taken to the nearby dispensary where they were treated and discharged.

However, the police boss condemned the killings saying the suspect should have been given time to reveal more information over his acts in order to accord him justice.

He urged the residents not to take the law into their own hands and instead should present such suspects to the police for action.
