Kenya showcases at China Expo

SHANGHAI, May 1 – President Mwai Kibaki who is in Shanghai, China on a state visit has expressed  Kenya’s determination and commitment to fully utilize the window of opportunity provided by the 184-day World Expo 2010 Shanghai  to showcase her trade, investment and  unique tourism attractions.

President Mwai kibaki who was speaking while officially opening the Kenya Stand at the joint Africa Pavilion in the World Expo 2010 Shanghai, China,  said the exposition accorded Kenya an opportunity to join the international community in finding solutions to the environmental conservation challenges facing the world.

Kenya’s unique Theme statement \’Cities of Discoveries and Harmony\’ which was within the framework of the World Expo 2010, Shanghai \’Better City, Better Life\’, President Kibaki said, focused on sustainable urbanization and represented the country’s vision.

The Head of State noted that the Exposition provided an avenue for cultural exchanges besides providing people with an opportunity to build relationships through music and dance.

"The Expo provides an opportunity for Kenyans to display and promote their products and services in the vast Chinese and Asian markets”," the President said.

The Head of State paid tribute to the Chinese Government and the people of China for hosting the Expo which he said brings impetus in international trade.

The President invited the Chinese and other potential investors and tourists to visit the Kenya  Stand and experience the country through thematic projects on display.

President Kibaki was conducted on the tour of the Kenya Stand by the Minister for Trade Amos Kimunya.

The President also toured China, Shanghai, Rwanda, Seychelles, Guinea and Ghana stands.

The President is accompanied by Cabinet Ministers Uhuru Kenyatta, Moses Wetangula, John Munyes, Fred Ngumo, Assistant Ministers Nderitu Murithi, Mohamed Abu Chiaba and Joseph Nkaisseri and the MP for Kisauni Hassan Joho, among other senior government officials.
