Poland election date to be announced

, WARSAW, Apr 14 – The date of Poland\’s presidential election will be announced on April 21, after the funeral of late head of state Lech Kaczynski, interim president Bronislaw Komorowski said Wednesday.

"The decision will be made public during the week after the funeral… I will announce the decision, the date, on April 21 in the morning," Komorowski told reporters in parliament.

Earlier Wednesday parliamentary chancellery chief Lech Czapla said the snap presidential ballot would take place on June 13 or 20.

Kaczynski died Saturday along with 95 others, mostly senior public figures, when his presidential jet crashed in western Russia as the delegation headed to a memorial service for the World War II massacre of Polish officers.

Kaczynski and his wife Maria are to be buried in Krakow on Sunday.
