According to the itinerary released by the Public Relations firm, Mr Annan was on Friday due to chair a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), whose headquarters is in Nairobi.

The former UN Secretary General on Thursday held closed door meetings with Prime Minister Raila Odinga at Treasury buildings before heading to Parliament for a similar meeting with Speaker Kenneth Marende.

Soon after meeting the Speaker, Mr Annan – who chaired the National Dialogue and Reconciliation Committee that saw the inception of the coalition system of governance – said he would make a comprehensive statement on the progress of a Bill by Central Imenti MP Gitobu Imanyara Bill on establishing a Special Tribunal after meeting the President.

Mr Imanyara\’s Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2009 has suffered a perennial lack of quorum since he introduced it in Parliament.

The talks with the two leaders dealt mainly on progress made since Mr Annan\’s last visit in October when he left with a clear message that masterminds of last year\’s post-election violence must be brought to book before 2012.
