One killed in Kenya tanker tragedy

NAKURU, Kenya, Nov 13 – One person died and scores of others seriously burnt when a bus collided head on with a tanker that was ferrying sulphuric acid to Western Kenya.

The Accident occurred at Sachang’wan area on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Friday morning.

The bus burst into flames on impact leaving most of the passengers with serious burns while the tanker driver died on the spot.

It was not clear what sparked off the fire that reduced the bus into a shell.

Most of the passengers are admitted to the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital suffering burns all over their bodies.

Three of the survivors are in critical condition.

The accident occurred on the same stretch where 131 people were burnt to death in January this year when a tanker from which they were siphoning fuel exploded.

Eighty-seven victims of the January oil-tanker tragedy were burnt beyond recognition and were later buried in a mass grave near the scene of accident.
