NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 31 – With the series shrouded in mystery, speculation has grown as fans across the continent try to uncover the identity of the show’s housemates.
M-Net says the revolution is still on to make BBA fresher and more controversial than before, and that claws will be drawn out this time round.
And in the same spirit, taking over from the infamous KB, will be Nigerian television celebrity IK Osakioduwa, who will host the new series that starts this weekend.
An Economics graduate from the University of Lagos who began his broadcast career as ‘Wild Child’ on Nigerian radio, IK moved into television as a presenter on M-Net’s lifestyle program Studio 53.
You have probably also seen this BBA fan’s face on the Nigerian game show Temptation Nigeria and the stand-up series Comedy Club: Live in Lagos.
"I’m not sure what it is about the show but it’s almost addictive. I hate to confess it but, I remember days when I stayed up watching people in the house sleep."
Ahead of the show he is encouraging audiences to stay tuned.
"I’ve been speaking with some people involved with the production and I think it’s safe to say that a lot of thought has been put into improving everything that has been done before. We see a reflection of that in the increased prize money. I also think there will probably even be more drama in this edition too because the stakes are higher. Not to mention that there are more countries."
The September 6 launch of BBA will also feature African sensation K’Naan.
The Somali born, Canadian based musician has won global attention for fusing hip hop, rap and reggae with poetic insight. His second album Troubadour, released earlier this year, has seen him build on a reputation for talent and powerful lyrics.
