President Kibaki set to tour Nyanza

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 23 – President Mwai Kibaki will from Friday start a three-day working and meet-the-people tour of Nyanza Province.

During the tour, the President is expected to launch and inspect various development projects initiated in the region.

On Friday, the President will visit Rachuonyo South District where he will launch the upgrading of the Kendu Bay – Homa Bay Road and Homa Bay – Mbita Road to bitumen standards and thereafter address a public rally at Kendu Bay.

Later the Head of State will tour Nyakach District to commission Sondu-Miriu Hydro-Power Project funded by the Japanese Government.

In the afternoon, President Kibaki will address roadside meetings at Katitu junction and Ahero Township. Later, President Kibaki is expected to chair a regional leaders’ meeting at Kisumu State lodge.

On Saturday, the President’s tour will kick off in Kisumu West District where he will commission expansion works for Kisumu International Airport and unveil a commemorative plaque.

President Kibaki will then proceed to Kisumu West District where he will address a roadside meeting at Kombewa before proceeding to Siaya District where he will address another roadside meeting at Akala.

The Head of State will later visit Rarieda District where he will address area residents at Ndori before proceeding to Bondo where he will address wananchi and thereafter lay a wreath at the late Hon. Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s Mausoleum.

The President will conclude the day’s programme at Ugenya District where he will lay the Foundation Stone for Matibabu Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
