Omogeni to head anti graft board

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 24 – President Mwai Kibaki on Wednesday appointed Law Society of Kenya Chairman Okong’o Omogeni as the new Chairperson of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Advisory Board and Irene Keino as his deputy.

Former Mandera Central Member of Parliament Billow Kerrow who was not in the gazetted list despite his name having been approved by Parliament in February has now been appointed to the Board for a five year term.

As an independent legal entity under the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, the advisory board is tasked with an oversight role for the KACC.

The newly reconstituted team will now have to look for a new boss at the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission (KACC). The term of Justice Aaron Ringera comes to an end in September.

Other members of board include Jaqueline Mugo (Federation of Kenya Employers), John Wanyela (Kenya Bankers Association), Reuben Kosgei (Institute of Engineers of Kenya), Grace Koome (Association of Professional Societies of East Africa), Abdallah Athman (Kenya Medical Association) and Suru Tana (Kenya Association of Manufacturers).

The Head of State has also appointed Wilson Shollei as Assistant Director Finance and Administration while John Mutonyi is the Assistant Director Investigation and Asset Tracing at KACC for a period of five years.
