Kenya, Zambia leaders hold talks

LUSAKA, Apr 6 – President Mwai Kibaki on Sunday held talks with Zambia’s President Rupiah Banda in Lusaka.

The two leaders discussed ways of strengthening the existing cordial relations between the two countries. President Kibaki is in Zambia for a three day official visit.

The two Heads of State also discussed ways of boosting food production and the balance of trade between the two countries.

The talks were attended by Cabinet Ministers Moses Wetangula-Foreign Affairs, Amos Kimunya-Trade and Assistant Minister Peter Munya-East African Community and the Zambian Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ronnie Shikapwasha.

Later the COMESA Secretary General Sindiso Ngwenya briefed the President on the two day COMESA-EAC-SADC North-South Corridor high level conference that kicks off at Mulungushi International Conference Centre on Monday morning.

President Kibaki who is the current Chair of COMESA is expected to highlight progress made in the region towards boosting infrastructure among COMESA countries.
