NAIROBI, December 1 – Kenya winger Collins Injera was the top scorer as the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens ended on Saturday at The Sevens in Dubai.

The flying Mwamba winger who was also the top scorer at the Kenya Rugby Football Union National Sevens Circuit scored seven tries to top the pack.

Ryno Benjamin (South Africa), Isoa Damudamu (England), Robert Ebersohn (South Africa) and David Mateus (Portugal) each had five. Victor Oduor who scored two tries against Argentina in the Plate semi-final finished with four tries.

Lavin Asego was third in the top points’ scorers list with 36 just one ahead of Injera on 35. Oduor also made it to this list after scoring 20 points.

It was another podium finish for Kenya as Asego finished as the top goal scorer in the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens.

He kicked over 13 goals, same as New Zealand’s Tomasi Cama. England’s Ollie Phillips had and Mzwandile Stick (South Africa) each had 12 with Lolo Lui (Samoa) on 11 with Portugal’s Pedro Leal slotting 10 goals.

Kenya finished fourth with 18 tries. New Zealand and South Africa were level with 22 tries and England scored 21. Samoa had 17 tries in the two-day tournament.

It was another best for Kenya as the 38-0 win over Scotland was the widest margin victory in the opening tournament of the 2008/09 International Rugby Board Sevens World Series12.

The highest aggregate score was also Kenya’s honour to claim following their 26-24 win over Argentina in the Plate semi-final. Also, the 38-0 win against Scotland in the Pool stage made it to this list.

Injera and Asego were also the most points scorers in a game for the win against Scotland.
