Kenya slips in Fifa rankings

NAIROBI, November 12 – Kenya has dropped down six places in the latest FIFA World rankings.

Stars have fallen from position 79 to position 85 following their 3-2 loss away to Guinea in Conakry in October during the last World /Africa Cup of Nations group two qualifying match.

Kenya’s opponents in the final 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifying round Nigeria has moved up five places to position 22, Tunisia remain at position 47 while Mozambique moved up eight places to position 92.

In Africa, Kenya has dropped one place to 19th place while Cameroon and Egypt maintained the first and second places respectively while Nigeria moved to third place after switching positions with Ghana.

The 2006 World Cup representatives Ghana and Cote d’ Ivore take the fourth and fifth places respectively while Guinea are ranked sixth in Africa.

In the East and Central Africa region, neighbours Uganda lead the pack in 83rd position followed by Kenya in the 85th position while Rwanda occupies the 87th position.

Sudan and Ethiopia are ranked 101 and 102 respectively, Tanzania moved to position 105 while Eritrea is ranked at position 137.

European champions Spain remained top of the World followed by 2008 Euro Cup runners up Germany in second place while 2006 World Cup Champions Italy dropped to third place.

The Netherlands are in fourth place while Brazil is in fifth place then followed immediately by South American rivals Argentina in the sixth position and Croatia in the seventh position.

Euro semi finalists Russia is ranked at position eight, Czech Republic at position nine while Portugal and England tie in the tenth position.

The next World FIFA rankings will take place on December 17 after a couple of international matches and friendly fixtures scheduled to be played.
