NAIROBI, October 23 – Harambee Stars will start their quest for a berth in the 2010 World Cup with a tough home match against Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles.
Stars will square it out with the three time World Cup finalists on March 29 in Nairobi in the opening match of the final qualifying rounds for a place in the World’s football bonanza in South Africa.
On the same day, Nigeria will be in Maputo for their opening match against the Crocodiles of Mozambique.
After the match up against the North African giants, the national team will then travel to Nigeria for a date with the Super Eagles on June 6.
Stars third match against Mozambique on June 20th will be the most crucial one in their bid to qualify for the African Cup of Nations.
With Nigeria and Tunisia starting as clear favourites, winning this match will be of utmost significance for Stars as it will give them an edge in the potential battle for third place and with it a place in the 2010 African Cup of Nations.
The return match against the Mambas of Mozambique will take place in Maputo on September 5 with Stars then travelling all the way to Tunisia for the return match against the hosts.
Kenya will end its qualifiers with home match against Nigeria on November 14.
The group’s heavyweights; Tunisia and Nigeria will clash on June 20 in Tunis with the return leg scheduled for Abuja on September 5.
