What cameras do you enjoy shooting with and what do you like most about them?

I shoot with the Canon 6D an entry level full frame camera that has never let me down throughout all my photography escapades. It has been to the harshest conditions in and out of Kenya, shots weddings like every weekend and to date still proves to be very reliable in terms of performance.

Where do you shoot most of your photos and what sort of photos do you like to take best?

My heart is in cityscape and travel photography. I love to experience new things and jump at any chance to explore interesting new locations as well as meet new people and cultures. I think different and hence like to give a unique angle to all the shots I take.

With that being said, I don’t have a specific place I usually go to all the time other than let’s say rooftops within Nairobi. I am more of the spontaneous guy who jumps at any opportunity to go to random shoots / travel with friends just so as to get a shot that nobody else has.

What are your top tips for taking captivating Instagram photos?

I would say just be true to yourself. I know of people who for instance absolutely love taking photos of food and food alone. Well if you follow therir accounts you can see their growth in taking really great food photos. This is possible because they love what they are doing and so if they always shoot food they are forced to get out of their comfort zone and get unique angles to creating beautiful images. Other than that just make sure you first have an end image of what you want in mind. That will mean you will make sure you get the composition, lighting, and editing right. To sum it all up, if you focus on something you really love doing then you won’t be afraid to create, think different and get unique perspectives to photos which is what makes you stand out.

How has Instagram influenced your profession and your business?

I owe everything to Instagram. I get daily inspiration from great accounts that I follow. Be it in terms of portraiture, cityscapes, landscapes, and weddings etc. That way I get to push my growth in being an amazing photographer. I also get a lot of business through Instagram. I have won a couple of competitions through the platform, made a lot of amazing photographer friends who have either inspired or mentored me in one way or another.
