Nairobi Restaurant Week 2017 set to be city’s most exciting foodie event

By Miano Muchiri

January isn’t that dull when you know Nairobi’s most exciting and biggest culinary event is set to return to the city with over 60 of the best restaurants for Nairobi Restaurant Week 2017, which will take place from Thursday 26th January – Sunday 5th February 2017.

Hosted poolside at the stunning Tribe Hotel, the launch brought together stakeholders and the who’s who of Nairobi, but also hosted Ashley Palmer – Watts is the Group Executive Head Chef at the Michelin-starred Dinner by Heston Blumenthal.

Together with Chef Ashley, Chef Dennis, Chef Luca and Chef Alan teamed-up for a cocktail remember, on Thursday evening.

Here are my thoughts on the evening’s culinary delights:

Top three items of the night were selected from each chef and Chef Alan’s Tilapia with Coconut Emulsion, Coriander Oil and Crispy Skin was my favorite starter.

Chef Dennis gave us a reminder that nothing ever beats a local meal with Matoke, Polenta, Mushrooms, Masai Pecorino.

Chef Luca wrapped it up with a Deja-Vu of Chicken Biryani with the classy dessert of Chai Ice Cream Caramelized Brioche and White Chocolate Snow to top off the evening.

With everything served on Thursday evening nothing short of pin point precision, it would be a mistake to miss out on this year’s Nairobi Restaurant Week!
