Tecno recently launched two gadgets earlier in September: the Phantom 6 and the Phantom 6 Plus.

What did I think about the new flagship device?

Unpacking the Tecno Phantom 6 plus

I used to own a Tecno phone way back when the product wasn’t seen as a ‘mainstream’ phone. Because of my history with the phone, I kept my expectations at manageable levels. But when I got the box that contained the phone, I was completely blown-away. The packaging is magnificent, beautiful and secure.

Design

The Phantom 6 is built with a Nano-Molded metal body with the aluminum framework and a non-detachable battery design. Tecno Phantom 6 wears a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen display size. The Tecno Phantom 6 is also a slim sexy phone. With a 6.15mm size, the phone is not only elegant, it also catapults it to its rightful place; leading world’s slimmest smartphones.

Power

Power banks have become very attractive now. The battery life of many phones has been reduced to a few hours due to social media. However, the Phantom 6 has a fast charge ability and the power can last throughout the day even on heavy usage.

Phantom 6 Processor and OS

I was impressed by the ability of the phone to handle multiple operations at the same time without hanging. The Tecno Phantom 6 is powered by a 2.0GHz Helio X20 Octa-core MTK processor.

The operating system is Tecno HiOS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Camera

Tecno took their phone capability to a whole new level with the Phantom 6. They paired with SONY and Samsung to produce a masterpiece camera that takes world class photos. The 8.0 MP Front Camera with Wide-Angle Lens and a 13.0 MP AF & 5.0 MP Dual Back Camera takes the Phantom 6 into a rare league if you consider it’s retail price in Kenya.

The phone is fitted with a biometric eye/iris scanner. But they should have fitted an extra layer of security (Finger Print Scanner) which is extended to Tecno Phantom 6 Plus.

The battery capacity of the Phantom 6 should have been improved too. The 2700 mAh battery fitted in the phone is the same as the Tecno Phantom 5 battery.
