Celebrated South African comedian Trevor Noah has pulled-out of his highly anticipated hosting gig at the 6th edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) to be held in Johannesburg this coming Saturday, the 22nd of October.
In a message posted on Noah’s Twitter, the comedian explains that he has been battling a “severe upper respiratory and ear infection” and will be unable to travel.
According to Eyewitness News, organizers have confirmed that media personality Bonang Matheba will be replacing The Daily Show host.
The definitive annual celebration of African and international talent and achievement, MAMAs, recognises and rewards musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on African music and youth culture over the previous year. The ceremony will feature stunning performances from African and international artists along with the show’s signature cross-genre and cross-border collaborations.
