#EditorsPicks: Our favourite facial toners and why

Editors Pick - Toners

I was never inclined to use toners in my daily skincare routine for a long time until I really read up on the importance of this step.

Toning is such a vital part of your cleansing process and if you’ve ever swabbed your face with this fairy dust-infused soothing potion right after washing your face, you’ll know why.

Not only does this remove any dirt that may have been left behind after cleansing (yes, that actually happens) but it also helps restore the natural pH balance of your skin.

But even as you hunt for your perfect one, make sure to pick one up that meets your skin’s needs. If you have sensitive or dry skin, find an alcohol-free toner and with a bit of glycerin. However if you’ve got oily/combination skin, you may need something with a bit of alcohol but steer away from super-potent formulas.

Here are the toners we’re currently obsessed with.

Sharon Mundia – Avalon Organics Wrinkle Therapy Perfecting Toner. (Sh1,250)

I absolutely fell in love with this toner after noticing that it doesn’t have any preservatives, synthetic fragrances or parabens. In fact, it’s infused with orange peel oil, lavender oil, glycerin and different bark extracts. I was looking for something with natural ingredients and loved that this was also infused with rosehip oil, which contains loads of vitamin C (great for nourishing the skin). I’d also recommend pure rose water which is a great natural toner that I occasionally use.

Susan Wong – The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner. (Sh750)

After hearing about the natural properties of Tea Tree Oil, I love the Tea Tree Oil line from The Body Shop.

The toner has a very subtle tea tree scent, but upon cleansed skin, you can feel a slight tingle from the antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. Your skin feels super refreshed and clean after using this affordable toner!
