Capital Lifestyle Instagrammer of the Week: Maxiimilien

“I try to capture moments which I believe are magic and full of good vibes.” So says Danny of the Instagram and VSCO account @Maxiimilien.

The free-spirited Danny, a G.O (Gentil Organisateur) at Club Med, in many ways is an ambassador of the resort group’s spirit and its values of producing moments of happiness, kindness, conviviality, friendliness and humour – even when it comes to photography.

Danny’s approach is embodied in the simple word “ephemeral.” Completely aware of how moments in our lives are always fleeting, the amateur photographer aims to capture moments of his life in the hopes of sharing it with others.

“I love editing photos and I love that feeling when you deeply know it’s a good shot. There’s a sense of pride and a great feeling knowing that you were lucky enough to be there right now, right there, and that this was a very unique moment in the whole world.”

Danny’s passion for all things here and now is beautifully showcased through his photography. His Instagram account consists of carefully curated images that seemingly were documented on-the-fly, but always inspire a lot of emotion. Through vivid colours, series of three in regards to themes, and unexpected angles, Danny takes followers on a beautiful journey of his home, Mauritius.

Capital Lifestyle linked-up with him in Mauritius to find out how photography and Instagram have impacted his journey in Mobile Photography.

What cameras do you enjoy shooting with and what do you like most about them?

I used to have a simple basic camera which I broke on purpose to have special effects – like those old rectangular Fuji cameras. Then I used a Nikon D90 and a Ricoh.

Where do you shoot most of your photos and what sort of photos do you like to take best?

At the end of the day it’s all about the moment and how you feel when capturing this one moment of your life. Only after taking the photo do you realize how precious this was.

I like shooting people – random photos of people and their daily routine but in a very unplanned way. I like capturing sunsets – it’s simply magic.

How has Instagram influenced your profession and your business?

I don’t have a business but Instagram is like a big window where you get to showcase a part of yourself.

I’m just a drop in the ocean, a drop…. Instagram is like big glass window where you get to expose yourself.
