RnB sensation Third Hand Music, a trio group based in Kenya, has won an award at the prestigious Akademia Music Awards with their hit single ‘Helena.’

The single’s video won the Best Video category RnB and Soul. This is the first group in Kenya to not only win the award but even get a nomination at the award.

Located in Los Angeles, California, The Akademia Music Awards is dedicated to recognizing excellence in music throughout the world and supporting musicians interested in receiving a higher degree of market exposure and professional recognition for their work.

Third Hand Music started out in 2012  while in campus as ‘Phy and the Band’, performing at small gigs in Nairobi, mostly the formerly known  ‘Poetry at the Park’ held at the Memorial Park.

The trio broke out in October 2014 with Phy going solo and begun working on an album which they are yet to release. Helena was their first single.

“We are elated to receive the award, it’s reassuring that someone is appreciating our music and hard work, expect a lot this year from us going forward, the fire has been ignited,” the group shared with Capital Lifestyle following the news.
