Airtel Trace Music Star launches in Kenya, Keri Hilson to mentor winner

Airtel and Trace TV have unveiled season two of the biggest music competition to ever take place in Kenya. Dubbed “Airtel Trace Music Star” (ATMS), Season 2 of Airtel Trace Music Star commences in Kenya with renowned American singer and songwriter, Keri Hilson, as the mentor in this year’s music talent show.

This year’s ATMS competition will see Niger join Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Zambia as the newest African territories to enter this year’s competition.

Without having to stand in big long queues, all that participants have to do is use an Airtel line to Call, Sing and Win a chance to become the next big music star in Kenya and possibly across Africa and the world.  To participate, one will need to call in the number 0900 733 733 with their mobile phones, record their songs to stand a chance to become the next big music star in Africa. ATMS received more than 2.3 million calls into the dedicated telephone line last year.

The Kenyan winner stands a chance to win Ksh 1.5 million at the Kenya finale and thereafter, qualifies to compete in the grand finale where the ultimate prize comprises a mentorship program with multi-award winning American singer-songwriter Keri Hilson in Atlanta. The winner will not only star in their own music video alongside Keri Hilson; he/she will get an opportunity to record a duet with the “Knock You Down” songstress, as well as receive a signed contract with a major music label and worldwide media exposure through various TRACE’s platforms.

Also, the first and second runners up will take home an iPhone 6s Plus + Kes 100,000 and the 3rd winner will be taking home a Samsung 6 Edge and a Cash prize of Ksh 50,000.

ATMS competition will run until 11h June 2016. The competition is only open to Airtel subscribers. Numbers ported to Airtel will also be eligible for entry.

The grand finale will be held in Lagos in June this year.
