Following an incredible year of performances, organizers of Koroga Festival kicked-off the new year on Sunday at Nairobi Arboretum with a the familiar sounds of Tony Nyadundo, Ken Wa Maria, J.B. Maina, and Ugandan superstar Jose Chameleone – backed by a 12-person band.

The headlining Ugandan heavyweight, Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Doctor Jose Chameleone, is one of East Africa’s finest musicians and put on a performance worth noting. In an exclusive interview with Capital Lifestyle, Chameleone revealed how Nairobi has always had a special place in his career.

“It’s been a journey of 15 successful years; I’m finally back to where it all started. My fans in Nairobi know that this is where it all started and now is the time they get a loaf of what they baked!”

The Koroga Festival is a bi-monthly event and is a great reflection of Kenya’s brilliant and diverse local talent, whilst also showcasing leading artists from all over Africa through music, fashion, food and arts. Previous editions have seen musicians like Mi Casa, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Sauti Sol, Mayonde, Papa Wemba, Freshlyground, Oliver Mtukudzi, and Simphiwe Dana, just to name a few, grace the stage.
