#Travel: Luxury hotel in Sultanate of Oman set to open April 2016

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, the luxury hospitality brand for modern travelers, is moving closer to opening its first resort in the Sultanate of Oman. Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, a rare jewel in the rocky contours of the vast Saiq Plateau on Oman’s fabled Green Mountain, will be magnificently perched almost 3,000 metres above sea level on the curving rim of a great canyon, making it the highest five star resort in the Middle East and the second highest in the world.

A scenic two hour drive from Muscat International Airport, passing date plantations, wadis and historical forts,the resort will offer an exhilarating escape for culture and history enthusiasts with the ancient city of Nizwa only a 30 minute drive from the hotel.

Travelers can look forward to the resort’s nine room categories: 82 luxurious rooms and 33 villas, royal mountain villas equipped with their own private swimming pool; all furnished with rich and authentic traditional Omani designs.

Gourmands will be delighted to learn that there will be six dining outlets to choose from: a fine dining restaurant housed in a fort tower inspired by the historical forts around Oman, a contemporary Italian restaurant overlooking the Grand Canyon of the Middle East, and a Moroccan lounge and bar where you can relax and star gaze in all year round cool temperatures, just to name a few.

Additional resort facilities will include the highly acclaimed Anantara Spa, Oryx Fitness Centre and tennis court, and a kids club.
