The anticipated EABLF Karura Run today received a major boost after rapper Octopizzo and DJ Joe Mfalme and DJ Hassan confirmed participation.

The trio will run and perform at the inaugural EABL-Foundation Karura 10-KM environmental race run slated for December 5, 2015.

The run is part of EABL’s 10-year anniversary commemoration which aims to raise KES 5 million this year for the care and management of the Karura conservancy.

Commenting on this announcement, EABL Corporate Relations Director, Julie Adell-Owino acknowledged that the move to include the elite runners was aimed at raising the profile of the run by incorporating the competitive aspect.

“Granted that Kenya is the “Hot bed of Champions” inviting top caliber elite athletes encourages us as an organization to ably conserve the environment that we greatly rely on for the success of our business,” said Ms Adell-Owino.

Participants wishing to run will register with Kshs 1,000 with all the proceeds going towards boosting afforestation initiatives through a partnership between EABL Foundation and Kenya Forest Service (KFS), among other stakeholders. Registration is ongoing at Junction Mall, Ridgeways Mall, Parklands Sports Club, Nairobi Sports House, Karura Forest (KFEET Office), Sidai Oleng (Kiambu Rd), Tamasha, Guava, Buffet Park, Red Lion (Ruaka), Edge, Rumours and Molly’s Pubs in the CBD.

Ms. Adell-Owino added, “We are greatly touched by the overwhelming support towards making this event a success.”

EABL Foundation has been championing for continuous improvement in environmental performance, concentrating its efforts on areas of greatest impact at its manufacturing and distribution points under the Environmental conservation pillar.

The Foundation has concentrated its efforts in conservation of water catchment areas having planted over one million trees across East Africa since inception with substantial conservation efforts in Kenya.
