Ethiopian Airlines will be operating an all-female flight crew for the first time in its history on Thursday, November 19, 2015.

The flight operating from Addis Ababa to Bangkok will be a historic flight aimed at empowering women on the eve of the fastest growing Airline in Africa’s 70th Anniversary.

On Thursday, women will operate the flight fully on-ground and in the sky from flight deck crew members and Cabin Operations to Airport Operations; Flight Dispatcher; Load Controller; Ramp Operations; Baggage Handling; Flight Planning; Cargo Handling; On-board logistics; Aviation Safety and Security; Ticket Offices; Catering; Air Traffic Controllers and Global Call Center. Ethiopian senior female executives are expected to grace the event on-board the flight.

“It is a great honor for us to have competent Women Aviation Professionals at Ethiopian in every aspect of the aviation field, which portrays Ethiopian as gender responsive organization that strives to pursue its underlying stance of being an equal opportunity employer,” Tewolde GebreMariam, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines shared.

Organizers believe that this is an opportunity to inspire young African female students to believe in their dreams and embark to fill the skill gap for Aviation professionals. Considering Gender Equality will be an important issue in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Ethiopian Airlines initiative is a great step to push the cause into action.
