Eric Wainaina joins Barclays One Harmony Festival panel of judges

Celebrated artiste and song-writer Eric Wainaina was among the panel of judges at the 11th edition of the Barclays One Harmony Festival which took place from 15th– 17th October in South Africa.

One Harmony Choir Festival is an event in the Barclays Africa calendar. It sees employees from across the continent coming together to perform in a way that inspires all in attendance.

The event themed Proudly African, Proudly United saw 13 choirs from the Barclays Africa Group Limited, including Kenya’s Sunrise Choristers ,stretch their voice-chords for the coveted Choir of the Year title.

Other adjudicators included Gena West, one of the judges on the popular music reality TV show, “Vodafone Icons” in Accra, Ghana; South Africa’s Kutlwano Masote, who has supported renowned songstress, Lira, through her music career; Malawian Wambali Mkandawire, the  first  African  to  have  won  the  “World  Intellectual  Property  Organization  (WIPO)  Award and celebrated classical vocalist Xiaoju Lownam from Seychelles.

The event was emceed by former Channel O presenter Kabelo Ngakane, assisted by comedian Weza Solange, whose rise to fame came in Season 6 of Big Brother Africa.

Wainana is arguably one of Kenyan’s most experienced and talented singers. He has won several accolades for his music and work on peace, unity and reconciliation in Kenya. He has been a judge and advisor before on different competitions and music events within East Africa.
