BET’s “Top Actor” Africa Season 2 auditions hit Nairobi

The auditions for the BET hit reality show Top Actor Africa will be held at the Kenya National Theatre in Nairobi this Saturday October 10th 2015, as the hunt for the hottest acting talent graces Kenya. At stake will be a role to star in series 2 of Top Actor Africa, the TV series that puts a dramatic new spin on the reality genre. During the auditions, BET will be looking to unearth talented actors of every description – from heartthrob heroes and comedians, to villains and femme fatales.

Launched earlier this year, BET  which is the sister channel to MTV Base, played a key role in launching the acting careers of Lupita Nyong’o and Nick Mutuma, thanks to their appearances in the sex and relationships drama, MTV Shuga.

A total of 12 lucky thespians will be competing for the chance to win the title “Top Actor Africa”.  At stake – a career-launching prize package that includes US$10,000 in cash, a one-year contract with international representation, and access to Hollywood auditions.

Top Actor Africa will test the actors to the limits over seven weeks in nine vigorous acting challenges, taking them through every genre from Improv to Comedy, Theatre, Soapie, Commercial, Romance, Horror, Drama and Action.  Along the way, they will work with Hollywood and local industry experts including celebrity actors, casting agents, directors, producers, managers and writers.

South African drama student Altovise Lawrence, an increasingly popular figure on BET, won season 1 of Top Actor Africa where she now hosts an entertainment news show, BET Buzz.  Leading South African movie star Zikhona Sodlaka who starred in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and Generations, will be hosting season 2 which will be aired early next year.

How To Audition

To participate in the Top Actor Africa auditions, one should be between 20 and 30 years, hold a valid passport and possess a clean criminal record. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of competency in the English language and must be available between 23 October and 15 December 2015.  No previous acting experience is required.  Successful candidates will be notified after the auditions are completed and all necessary documentation is submitted.
