Katungulu Mwendwa, one of Kenya’s most respected fashion designers, has been listed as one of the top African designers to watch in 2015.

In an article published by Genevieve, Katungulu was listed amongst nine other African designers as some of whom will likely change the fashion landscape on the continent this year.

One cannot deny the shift and growth that the African fashion scene has experienced over the past several years. Not only have Africa’s top designers had the opportunity to showcase their pieces in some of the biggest fashion capitals – including Katungulu whose eclectic pieces graced the runway at New York Fashion Week – but they have also had the opportunity to dress the most influential and powerful personalities of the world.

The list was curated by a team of four stakeholders in the fashion industry from around Africa including Kenya’s leading male fashion blogger, Franklin Saiyalel of Kenyan Stylista.

Katungulu was recently a judge in the Design Your Destiny campaign – a platform that will allow Kenyan designers access to a Sh100 million seed fund.
