Design 101: Introducing a chair that looks, feels, smells of human flesh

three quarter chair
Designed by London-based Gigi Barker, dubbed the “Skin Chair,” this lounger replicates how human flesh looks, feels and smells.

Thanks to a pheromone-impregnated silicon moulded base that makes the stretched leather feel and smell like a man’s belly skin folds, incredibly Barker’s design feels unnervingly just like the real thing.

Like blobs of human flesh, the Skin Chair was modeled after an anonymous gentleman. The piece was designed to compel people to sit down and make a physical connection with the Skin Chair, resulting in an internal conversation about their own relationship and comfort level with their own skin.

The Skin Chair costs KSh 209,000 or (£1500).
